Minnehaha Falls

This weekend we went to Minnehaha Park to see the falls.

The upper part of the park is a nicely manicured city park, with picnic pavilions and a band shell and a cafe.

Then you come to the upper viewing area for the 53-foot falls.
You can see some people on the bridge above the falls, here:
Then we descended a long staircase to the bottom of the falls.

Then we followed the path along Minnehaha Creek down toward where it joins the Mississippi. The lower part of the park is left more wild, and didn't feel like a city park.

A nice lady offered to take our picture. More than two and half years into this parenting thing, and I'm still kind of shocked to see myself standing there as the mom of such a family-ish looking family.
There was kind of a watering hole area downstream, with people enjoying the flow of the creek.
And an AmeriCorps-built walkway.
This led us back toward our car, so I did not have to climb back up the big staircase (just a big hill).
