Nine In, Nine Out

Cora had her nine-month checkup today, and her dad was able to sneak out of work for a little bit to come across the street to meet us at her pediatrician's office.

And entertain her with a pen she grabbed from his pocket.

We learned that Cora is now 30.25 inches long, and 17 lbs. 4 oz. What that means is that she's shot up to the 99th percentile for height and fallen to the 25th percentile for weight. (If I remember right her head circumference was at the 95th percentile.) She looks like a regular baby to me, but apparently in the world of nine-month-olds, Cora is a beanpole. Dr. R said that's not worrisome at this point and she looks great, and to go ahead and keep doing as we've been doing.

We were happy to say that yes she's sleeping well these days and eating well and crawling. Pulling up sometimes, babbling with consonants (ma ma ma, ba ba ba), and picking things up. The doctor said that developmentally she's great.

We also have the go-ahead for most remaining food types, so we'll be charging forth with yogurt, egg yolks, cheese, pasta, beans, cottage cheese, etc. We've taken a pretty slow and conservative route for introducing new foods to her, but Cora's had about 33 different foods so far, and I'm looking forward to adding all these new ones.

All in all, she's looking great and we're very grateful to have such a healthy kiddo.

So she's a skinny minnie. But a beautiful baby for certain. Imagine it, she is 99th percentile in height! She is headed for the stars. Of course she didn't have a shot at SHORT.

Will her new foods include chocolate and ice cream? Those are great foods. And will contribute to her growth and development, I bet.

I too am grateful that you have such a wonderful baby and parenting experience. She is a treasure.
