Cora went ahead and turned three on November 9, despite my objections. She celebrated the event with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa! Cora's favorite people. This is their third visit here already, and we're getting quite the routine for them bivouacking in our basement. Cora loves to start her day by going down there to rouse them from their air mattresses.
Here's Cora and Grandpa making us all eggs for breakfast:
We're starting a new tradition of decorating the birthday girl's door while she sleeps. (We don't have to worry about having trouble topping ourselves next year--lots of room for improvement on this tradition.) Cora's current favorite color is red, she tells us repeatedly.
Geoff made her a sign.
In the morning I could hear her open her door . . . and then a long pause . . . and then she sauntered into our room grinning.
We had our little party on the weekend closest to her birthday and it happened to be daylight savings weekend, so we were plunged into darkness an hour early. It didn't stop our party girl.
Grandma, will you help me open this?
Grandma made her a red velvet cake.
Make a wish, baby!
It was served, of course, with her favorite: chocolate ice cream.
After she was all partied out, she got to top off the day with a bedtime story from Grandpa.
Happy birthday, Cora! We hope you're in for your best year yet!

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Cora was a perfect "Birthday Girl" and Hazel is such a happy little sister.
Cora is a great sister for Hazel. They share so well and take such genuine delight in one another.
Grandma and I have decided that we don't want to be 30 again; but, we would love to have the bodies of a thirty year old. Then we would be able to make the trip every other week or so.
To paraphrase the commercial, "Can't get enough of our 'Sugar Bears' . . . "
Looks like so much fun - wish we could have been there to celebrate !!!
J - I need your address :)
