Cora Ballerina

Cora has finished her first year of taking ballet, or rather pre-ballet. I was skeptical at first, but she really enjoyed it (except for getting her hair put up before each lesson--she hates that!) and I think she made nice progress.

Most of the lessons are closed-door, but here are some pictures from Parent Observation Day back in January. I believe they are taking turns doing the passe movement across the floor, here. One of Cora's favorites.

The teacher, Miss Becky, would ask the class questions about the positioning of their hands or feet, or what steps were called, and let me tell you, Cora is quite the little Hermione Granger about getting her answers out there.

At the end of each class they would do a round of "freeze dance," with the teacher controlling the start and stop button on the music. Cora always named that as her favorite part of class.

And then the recital in May! These pictures were all taken at the dress rehearsal. Geoff was away at a conference, so Hazel was my audience buddy, and she was pretty good.

The first run-through:

Getting notes from the teacher.

And then the second run-through. Waiting for the music to start.
Cora is the third little one from the right.

Her little hair band fell off, but we were able to fix that for the actual performance the next day.

And back at home afterward.

She's been promoted to the next level, and is looking forward to going back when school starts again.

How sweet is she? My! How beautiful and graceful. Reminds me of her mom. And then she shares the limelight with her sister!
