She's (Probably) a She

Today was our 20-week ultrasound, and the tech says there's a 90% chance we're having a GIRL. That's one of our two favorite genders! We couldn't be happier.

Even better, healthwise everything looked great. We were lucky to have a very talkative ultrasound tech, who pointed out everything as she was looking at it: membrane dividing the brain, 1-2-3-4 chambers of the heart, thighbones, fingers, bladder, spine, umbilical cord, kidneys, everything.

The baby's size is measuring right on schedule--she's the size they would expect her to be given how long she's been gestating, so that's good.

The girl definitely looks more crowded in there than she did at the 12-week ultrasound. I'll post the pictures when we get them scanned, but they're only pictures of body parts--none looks like a whole baby or even a face.

At the end the tech basically said that officially our doctor would review the results and call us tomorrow if there was anything to discuss, but really we weren't getting a call, because there was nothing abnormal in the findings at all.

The 90% is based on the fact that there was ample opportunity to see any penis present, and no penis appeared. I thought that they were able to see labia on girl ultrasounds, but that's not the verdict we got today, so we'll just go with what we've been told.

We are still working on her name, but we will let you know as soon as we decide.

So far this just gets more and more exciting.

I said "yeah, yeah, yeah a girl cousin!" Alex said cool but he'll have to talk to Uncle Kyle and Aunt Sarah about a boy.

Alex will probably still have a few shots at getting a boy cousin, so he definitely shouldn't give up hope yet. :o)
