The first time Geoff and I were pregnant, we didn't know anyone who was pregnant. And we only knew one infant--our nephew Aiden. (He's the one becoming a big brother today.) Want to see a picture of Aiden? Of course you do, that kid's adorable:

Then Geoff's brother and his sister each told us they were expecting in June. Sue and Jimmy and Aiden are getting their girl today, Brad and Jen are entering the final weeks of preparation before their boy comes.

And four of Geoff's colleagues turned up expecting. That means that in a program of just twelve residents, ours will be the fifth baby born this year. And every one of those is a first baby for their respective families. And three are being born to women residents in consecutive weeks in August and September. That's a lot of maternity leave! Poor Geoff has to listen to pregnancy complaints during all of his waking hours. He gets it during the day at work, and then he has to come home and pretend that stories of my achy tailbone are all fresh and exciting. He manages to pull it off.
So somehow we ended up the first pregnant and the last to deliver in this little baby boom, but we're reaping the many benefits of the situation--lots of same-age cousins, good doctor recommendations, commiseration, and the lessons from others' experiences. Good deal!
UPDATE: Baby Delaney has arrived and everyone is doing well. Sue had pitocin for the induction and yet declined the epidural. That's some badass birthin'!
